Brief update on 93L

June 23, 2010

-NHC still forecasting 20% probability of tropical storm formation in the next 48 hours.

– Still no hint of a surface circulation.  The penciled-in Hurricane Hunter flight will probably be scratched for today with one scheduled for the same time tomorrow.

GFDL and HWRF models continue to forecast development in the vicinity of the Yucatan Peninsula, though the GFDL is more modest than the previous couple of runs.

-Not much to report from the global models, though the European is showing a storm starting to develop on the west side of the Yucatan, five days out.

-Takeaway is that development, if any, will be later rather than sooner.
