(Ever so barely) Tropical Storm Chris Update 030500L

August 3, 2006

The hurricane hunter found a maximum flight level wind of 41 knots, which if you adjust to the surface (and round up) gives you 40 mph, which is just barely tropical storm strength.

The National Hurricane Center forecaster, holding out the possibillity that a stronger wind would be found, tacked on 5 mph to that for the 5 AM advisory.

The highly uncertain forecast takes Chiris through the straits of Florida. The uncertainty lies in whether the storm will survive to make the journey.

I really don’t have any comments to make as I’m in a bit of a state of shock. This decoupling of circulations has had the effect of making the past two days seem like a dream, as in the course of a few hours, all of the thinking of the past two days became worthless.
